Best to check with Camp Walt Whitman before hiking this one in winter. I drove right in and asked someone working about accessing the trail. They said I could, but would be locking the gate. They gave me permission to park at one of their buildings just offsite. |

Good blazing for winter travel. A few blowdowns. trail is tight at top due to high snow. |

Access road is plowed. The trail started out with a bit base under a few inches of powder. The base ended early and abruptly, suggesting that the last group abandoned their accent. I continued, sinking 6" to 8" and sometimes breaking the base and going much deeper. The one scramble is fairly trick with hard blue ice; I was able to do it in snowshoes with good traction. |
