Comments
Comments: Pete and I started on snowshoes up 19 mile which was broken out to Carter Dome tr. From there we were first tracks of the day over a light dusting to the hut. We repacked at the hut after checking into our cabin and headed up Wildcat. Trail was broken but stopped at the first slide crossing. We broke trail from there and ended up off trail from less than 1/3 of the way to nearly the summit. bushwacking was tough going in spots having to kick step most of the way for traction on the steeps. Found the trail as a single set of snowshoe tracks headed down to Carter Notch Hut. Soon encountered two inspiring women looking none the worse for wear who had come up from Pinkham. Platform at Wildcat D had snow to the railings. Amazing views of the Presi range. fun trip back to Cater Notch with a combination of hybrid telemark on snowshoes and butt sliding. Made sure to make some good kick steps on the cross slopes at the slides. careful on those. Burned a lot of matches on the bushwack to Wildcat but, in all, a great day out.
