I'm writing this as there has not been a very recent report on Gorge Brook Trail. A minimum of fresh snow on road walk to trail head. Gorge Brook Trail while in trees is extremely well traveled and in good shape. Snow is still soft so we used snowshoes although many more people wore spikes. Once above the tree line you will encounter a crusty ice amongst the rocks. Nothing more than spikes are needed here. Heading to South Peak is a mix of crusty ice and once in the trees soft snow. Unlike some other mountains in NH you will not need to worry about having to duck under branches (due to high snow base) except for the short spur trail to South Peak. |
