Comments
Comments: Great day to do this hike. Bare boots were fine until the Black Pond junction when snowshoes with heel lifts were optimal. ~25 hikers on trail today, including two with bare boots who managed the whole trip. All trails are well-packed down and obvious. The Brutus bushwhack is brutal - steep up and dicy coming down, though many used butt sleds to ride down. The tree branches are nasty the last 1/2 mile, requiring a lot of ducking and working around. Tiny little wooden sign at the summit indicates it is Owl's Head, very hard to find. The view from the summit is still minimal. But overall a great day, and a well-prepped trail for those looking to bag OH in winter.
