Comments
Comments: We were immediately faced with an unbroken trail, evidently no one had climbed this for months. The snow was wet and mushy, 6 of us took turns breaking the trail. We were not really packing it down. Snowshoes were balling up. After 4 hours of plodding we were still 700 ft of elevation from the summit. Around this area there are some very steep pitches and traverses on very steep hillsides. One lady had to turn around because she didn't have the MSR type traction snowshoes. The steep pitches were a real struggle. Finally it just got too dangerous there was no traction for these slippery maneuvers and we gave up. Spikes or crampons would have been useless. Descended in 2 hours. Trail still sloppy in the warm sun. We would have been better off to do something else that was broken out.
