Comments
Comments: Any day out is a good day, right? Big issues today were a 2-4 inch dusting of powder that made the trail slippery in a few spots. But the bigger issue was the relentless banshee wind that blew all that powder hither and yon, obscuring the trail, in some cases to the point of outright invisibility. For the most part, 19 Mile Brook trail was in fine shape, tho' the morning's warmer temps caused some slight balling underfoot -- nothing major. Navigation on Carter Dome trail was at times "interesting" (Firefly/Serenity reference) but up on Carter-Moriah, it sure felt like navigation at times vacillated between GPS and "wing and a prayer." (The freight train wind certainly didn't help concentration.) Budget extra time to deal with noodling around, figuring out which of three options is the better way forward. By now, my footprints have all likely been swept away by Aeolus.

All that being said, the lower elevations, particularly by the babbling brook, were sublime, particularly when the sun poked its head out. I heard a few short snippets of birdsong at the higher elevations, but couldn't find the critters. In any case, any day out is a good day.

Text, photos, and video are on my blog. Enjoy!
