Perfect day for a hike in the mountains! Started from the Liberty Springs Trailhead and took the Whitehouse Trail to Liberty Springs to Franconia Ridge. Trails were all pretty packed with a few loose inches on top. Started the day in snowshoes and could have stayed in them all day, but we opted for spikes on the way down to speed things up. Great butt sledding conditions if you're into that. On the descent towards the bottom we accidentally missed the left turn to stick with the Liberty Springs Trail and ended up taking the bushwack that is typically used by those parked at the Basin. Both the trail and bushwack are well broken out so have your eyes peeled. You still end up on the bike path so it's not the end of the world, but its extra mileage. |
