Comments
Comments: Crawford path up to Pierce was is better shape than anticipated. Solid snowshoe track that was already durable enough to handle to crowds. Only light traction was needed, although snowshoes are welcome higher up. The main track cuts the last corner and goes straight up to the summit. The trail to Eisenhower has been broken out, but there is no hardpack snow yet. I strongly recommend snowshoes for this leg in order to make sure the trail sets up well. Too many bare booters were giving it a shoot and chewing it up. It wasn't bad in snowshoes because the footprints aren't solidified yet. The last quarter mile up the Eisenhower summit cone/dome would be easier in spikes, but we managed in snowshoes.

Amazing day. 100 mile visibility. We could see Mansfield in Vermont. The wind was minimal to none all day. It doesn't get much better than today.
