After the warm-cold temp swings of the week, the snow was crusty from trailhead to summit, with the trail a packed sidewalk.
Spikes were perfect til the tricky ledge near the top where it was very icy. For this, spikes were barely adequate, esp on descent, and I woulda preferred my crampons. That being said, saw lots of folks coming up in spikes, one in Hillsounds, and a couple in crampons.
It was icy going down towards Pierce, and we decided not to try the loop. |
