It was cold and extremely windy so I wanted to avoid the slides and stay unexposed as much as possible so I took Scaur and did North and Middle out and back. I had all the mountains to myself! I only met a handful of skiers on Livermore Rd coming back. Trails were all unbroken but fairly hard snow; they started softening with the thaw of the last couple of days before current freeze. I had snowshoes the whole time and I would sink only a few inches in spots. Lost the trail a few times but I was able to find it eventually. A little surprised there was nobody else around given the beautiful sunny day. I felt the wind was bearable. 14.3 miles, 4,000 ft of elevation gain in 8 hours. |
