Parking/Access Road Notes: Plowed and perfect shape.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Wet/Slippery Rock, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow - Wet/Sticky, Snow/Ice - Postholes, Slush
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The small water crossings had some deep postholes, with water at bottom. The winter route at the double orange ribbons was the worst with them, some snow covering them could be a concern.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail was in most excellent shape. I had taken care of some blow downs a month or so back, but left a few bigger ones and hoped to saw them out today. Of course fellow Cardigan Highlanders or their helpers beat me to it, and did an awesome job of it. I did clear two smallish 3 foot sticks off the trail, which was all I could find to do to help. Looked like someone vacuumed the trail for Christ's sake.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one happy dog.
Bugs
Bugs: none.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Bic lighter at parking area, and one band-aid from the one hiker who did the peak before me today. I am keeping both, lol.

Comments
Comments: Trail was frozen up pretty nice as I headed up at 11:00. Road walk was choppy as hell, so was the trail itself. Mashed spuds on the way down but the monorail stayed firm. Not much bare rock on top, mostly boilerplate ice, but it was melting fast. Skyland Trail had some traffic of late. S. Ridge Trail had much less. Both looked choppy too.
