Comments
Comments: Followed Avalon Tr and broke out A-Z, Mt Tom Spur, and Willey Range Tr to Mt Field. The trail was well established with 1+- foot of drifted snow in spots. Our original plan included Mt Willey but at 11:35 on Mt Field, just as the last of the clouds were clearing, my friend informed me that he had not felt his toes for the last mile. Temps were around 5 degrees and the wind was about 20 mph. We decided it was best to head back and descended along the Avalon Tr, stopping at Mt Avalon along the way. All Trails should be in great shape after today. We met a few people that were heading to Willey and back. That section should be in good shape as well. There was also a group of 10 heading down the A-Z Tr to Zealand Hut to spend the night.
