We (group of three) were very fortunate to see that four people and two dogs were ahead of us. They broke the trail and navigated (thank you thank you, beautiful humans). Still, the snow was unconsolidated, styrofoamy, cold and dry, powdery. we wore mountaineering snowshoes, and on the steeps we slipped back with most of our steps, an on the way down we slid a lot. Broken trail goes off official trail and leads up a steep bushwhack to the ridge. Very tough hike due to snow conditions and temps. Butt sledded most of the way down. Trail to Middle Tripyramid was NOT broken out as of Saturday. We think that scaur ridge-pine bend junction sign is buried. View point to the west of submit features great views spanning Carrigain to Passaconoway. |
