Comments
Comments: While the route to the summit of Field is packed all the way up, I recommend snowshoes. We saw several large (6+) groups wearing microspikes only, and while they mostly did okay, there were a number of really deep postholes along the trail. We didn't summit Mt Tom, but it looks like the trail spur up from the col is also packed out. A group that we met at the junction with Avalon Trail just below the summit of Field reported that Avalon is also packed pretty well. The grey jays were out and enjoying some snacks with us.
