6 inches of loose snow in the morning below tree line. Soft on the edges of the monorail.
I wore snowshoes to just past the hut. After that switched to intermediate traction. Crampons would have been better.
The approaches to the summits were mostly hard pack and ice; a few drifts that were very manageable.
Adams was much colder and windier than Madison. Cairns were a little hard to follow in a few spots. |
