Peaks
Peaks Mt. Tecumseh, NH
Trails
Trails: Mt. Tecumseh Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, January 27, 2019
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked in lot #1, first cars there (6am). By the time we arrived back at the car (~10:45am) lots were all full and cars were parked all along the road. Definitely a hike where you want to get there early.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow/Ice - Postholes
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All streams were passable, stepping rocks were stable although you still need to be careful with your balance and take your time as rocks weren't very wide and some ice. Hike down (mid morning) encountered one stream who's water level had definitely increased since we crossed it earlier in the morning, so we picked a different spot to cross.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One or two trees across trail but high enough that you could easily duck under.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw many dogs on trail during hike back, seemed like they were having no issues.
Bugs
Bugs:
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Member of group saw a pair of silver sunglasses, hung from a tree branch so owner can find them.

Comments
Comments: Trail was very navigable as long as you have microspikes or crampons (no snowshoes needed), one long monorail of hard packed snow only broken up by a couple of water crossings. Too steep to go with just boots. Temp at trailhead was about 10F, shed some layers around 15 min into hike and didn't layer back up until maybe a quarter mile from the summit when the wind picked up and temperatures dropped. Summit got cold quick given the wind, but had beautiful views on a partial cloudy day. About 2.5 hours up, about a hour down.
