Comments
Comments: Lincoln Woods was wonderful packed - spikes, Osseo showed signs of traffic, quickly turned into a narrow foot path, gradually turned into a post hole mess, tried to make the path wider by knocking down the hard edges and the central ridge.

Just short of the switchbacks, I had had enough, stopped had a drink and a kind bar and contemplated the second failed attempt to get Flume in January. Actually turned around and after about 100 feet met two "more mature" hikers, Al and Linda nice couple that were going to go as far as it made sense. So I turned around and followed them past my turn around point. They stopped for a drink and snack shortly thereafter, and found myself in the lead trekking in a tedious mess. Spikes were the only option at this point, postholes up to thigh deep. There were signs of packed trail that would have been good for snowshoes had it not been destroyed. As the trail flattened out after the steep section beyond the view point, in about 300 feet the postholes stopped with no real sign of the trail. The posthole had turned back. Figured Al and Linda had turned back for sure. Turned around again, and ran into Al and Linda again, somewhat astonished I turned around again, we all put on snowshoes. The trial was not firm enough and snowshoes would breakthrough. Snowing and windy conditions. Ran into more postholes from Flume Slide to summit. Took some quick photos and a video, no lingering at the summit. Wore snowshoes down to Lincoln Woods trying to make a decent snowshoe track. About half way back to parking lot, ran into two hikers, one with a pulk, they were going to attempt a Pemi Loop going up Osseo.! The first guy had been up Osseo the day before.!!!!!!! The postholer right there. Despite the ire, held my words to myself.
