We started by walking on Hubbard Brook road (snowmobile packed), to the road shown on USGS that leaves between two drainages around 1,400 feet. This road was packed. At a major junction, we took the southmost of two roads headed northwest and followed it to dam (also snowmobile packed. Near the dam we took a snowmobile packed trail all the way up to the east shoulder, just east of the 2,603 bump. From there we followed the ridge through open woods (a few sprucey spots to bypass) to the recognized highpoint. Snow off trail was covered with a thick breakable crust. It tried to be supportive, but ultimately had us sinking just under a foot on average. This made for somewhat slow/choppy going off trail. |
