Comments
Comments: I had to turn around at the second water crossing on the Avalon Trail. There is no ice bridge and with all of the rain from yesterday, it was difficult to cross. Another hiker and I were able to cross but my dog wouldn't do it (and carrying him across wasn't safe with the footing and the flow of the water). The trail wasn't hard-packed as you would have expected from the rain and freezing, so snowshoes were needed. I think everyone I saw going up was wearing snowshoes.
