| Comments: |
From our parking lot we bare booted the balance of Smith Pond Rd to the gate (foot traffic allowed) and continued up the hard-packed road to a three-way junction.
Straight ahead is a private way, to the right is Half Mile Pond Trail and we took the right onto Smith Pond Trail. At this point the trail starts off with a red and teal blaze. We started up the trail and soon enough it was evident that we were trashing the cross-country ski tracks and should have brought our snowshoes.
That said, we returned to the truck (where our snowshoes were) and went to hit another quicker hike prior to the incoming storm.
