Snowshoes up and down. Considered switching to spikes for descent, but didn't want to deal with tying them to my pack. Either would have worked. Others I saw going up were probably 50/50 shoes/spikes.
Nicely packed for the most part, except for the loop up top, had some drifts. Some of the blazes up there were at shin height, so the storm will only add to that.
Thanks to my unknown shoer who laid the trail for me up in the Alpine area, that party is a little sketchy when it's your first time! |
