Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Not one other car was in the lot when we arrived at 10:30 or when we left at 2:30. The lot wasn't plowed, but manageable with my all wheel drive SUV. Be really careful maneuvering around - specially at the entrance where it drops off steeply on both sides. I've learned my lesson with that stinking lot since I had to be yanked out of a ditch by a tow truck 2 weeks ago. Good times. But that's a story for another time...

Lost and Found: Empty Budweiser can found mid point in a steep area - must've let loose when it's owner was butt sledding.

Comments
Comments: My partner and I determined that we needed to call in sick to work to get one more hike in before the impending blizzard. The weather was frigid (-negative digits), but the weather was gorgeous, sunny and windless.
We started in Hillsound micros, but switched to full crampons about 1.5 miles in. We were so glad we had these. We would not have made it to the top of East Osceola without them - we also really felt good about having them for the chimney section - micros would have been inadequate. Although we had our snowshoes with us, they weren't really needed - even in the sections with some snow drifts we felt the crampons were a better choice.
