Comments
Comments: We got a late start due to cold morning temperature. Skied up livermore road to the south juncture of the Tripyramid Loop trail. Switched to snowshoes for the rest of the hike. The south loop approach was well packed out. A few meanders off trail by the previous groups to avoid blow downs or the creek. The South Slide has a clear track from hikers glissading down. The track was mostly packed powder & hard crust. We stayed on the slide rather than take 1-2 off trail bushwacks. The ridge traverse was deep powder and drifts. The prior group lost the trail several times and took bushwacks to the west. We tried to stick to the trail as much as possible, but that meant breaking it out in 8-12" deep powder were needed.

The top of Scaur Ridge trail looked unbroken so we went down the North Slide. The slide was hard crust wind slab in the open sections and deep powder in the trees/bottom section. One climber had come straight up the slide with crampons and ice axe. We zig-zagged down with snow shoes & ice axes, mostly to save time changing out of the snow shoes. Skied out Livermore Road by headlamp. We saw no one all day after turning off the groomed Livermore trail, just earlier folks tracks. A long challenging but successful day
