Comments
Comments: What a difference a week makes! Zealand Road was packed solid from the snowmobile groomer, then snowmachine tracks and then from foot traffic. Trail is firm into the beaver ponds where some drifting has occurred. Well packed from hut up to Zeacliff Trail. After that all traffic before today was blown in. Snow was deep but better consolidated and the travel was much easier then last week. Thanks to the one unknown hiker for leading the way.
I enjoyed meeting Chris, Liz, Lance and Milo on the walk into Hale Brook trail. Also met very nice kids and teachers from Long Island who seemed to really enjoy being in the Whites.
The caretaker Joanne and I compared notes on backcountry skiing. Hope to get back in there soon.
