FOUND just below the cog spur junction on my way out: a leather work-type glove with a black REI liner inside. I left it at the kiosk. |

| Comments: |
Maybe 3-4 inches of new snow throughout so I got to wear the snowshoes on Jewell Trail until treeline where I switched into Microspikes to the summit. They proved to be adequate but a couple spots of pretty hard ice and some of the frozen side slopes made me wish I had brought something a little more aggressive. On return when I got below the trees the trail was a little soft and unconsolidated so I put the snowshoes back on for a pleasant descent, save for an occasional root or rock poking through.
There was just a little breeze late morning but zero wind in the afternoon. The 'partly sunny' part of the forecast never happened as the golden orb just couldn't break through the high clouds. No matter though as the conditions could not have been any better otherwise. Lots of people out enjoying this 'stolen' day, though I had the peak to myself for a bit. I almost feel guilty about this trek...almost ;) |
