Comments
Comments: Nice hike to these NH 500 Highest Mountain. We started of snowshoeing on a gated Noyes Road heading south and then turning west at easy grade. We followed this woods road for just over a ¼ mile and came to a logging load area. The woods road continues on the far-left side still heading west at easy grade with about a good foot of hard packed snow.

We soon hit a sub peak of Morgan Pond Mountain that had been previously logged, continued on this wood’s road dropping down in elevation and then started climbing again. Jumped off the woods road and started bushwhacking southwest towards the summit in nice wood and soon enough we hit the recognized high point of Morgan Pond Mountain. After signing in we retraced our steps back to the far side of the sub peak, jumped off the wood’s road heading southeast through that previously logged area to towards the summit of East Springfield Mountain. Because we now had a good two feet of hard packed snow crossing this area was not so bad.

Typically, this type of area has lots left over logging cut that are a pain in the ass to walk over. We soon jumped into nice woods with lots of moose activity, crossed several streams, slabbed the sub peak heading toward the col. Lots of cat like paw prints activity going on as we soon hit the col and the last little push to the summit jar of East Springfield Mountain.

After signing in we dropped off heading north towards our parking location in nice wood for a good stretch. We then hit an area of smaller spruce and lucky enough the snow was still hard packed to avoid those nasty spruce traps. This area had lots of older moose activity as we moved through it. Soon we were back in nice woods seeing fresh moose track, crossed a stream on a few logs and soon hit the car.

Nice hike clocking in 5.5 miles and 1350 of elevation gain +/-
