Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The lot was not plowed and there was a snow bank blocking the entrance. I parked a quarter mile up the Kanc in a plowed out are wide enough to be completely off the road. The only other hiker I encountered today had shoveled out an entrance and was able to get her vehicle into the lot. If you have a four-wheel drive vehicle you should be able to get in the lot through the opening.

Comments
Comments: The trail was tracked out to about a quarter mile past the Osceola Trail junction. After that there was 4 - 6 inches of new snow with drifts of a foot or more along the ridge. I used snow shoes the entire hike. It was difficult going on the ascent of the steep sections with soft powder on top of an ice crust. I often slide backwards before breaking through the crust. At the Chimney, my dog was not comfortable on the ice covered rock to the right so we completely bypassed it by going lower and came back on the trail above it. Ran into only one other hiker about half way between the peaks on our way out. The trip down was fast! I either slid on my but or basically snow shoe skied. The trail should be well packed out now.
