| Comments: |
Trail was untouched when I got there with two fellow hikers,,, few inches of snow with a crusty top from the previous night's rain/freeze cycle. We wore snowshoes the entire way up and down. Unfortunately,,, a half dozen booters came after us and mucked it up and made lots of deep postholes. I twisted my ankle and knee several times on the way down,,, so exercise caution. Two step-over blowdowns. Lots of small water crossings, none running high or fast. We missed the left turn that crosses the rocky water bed and heads up, up, up - so there is a set of snowshoe tracks that continue straight and eventually make their way across the shoulder and back to the blazed trail. Blazes clearly indicating that left turn are needed for times when the trail is not broken out yet. I came down the blazed trail and reconnected at the appropriate turn so that turn is well trod now. |
