| Comments: |
Icy roadwalk (spikes). Bare trail down low (you could almost take your spikes off) but then patch ice again. Higher in elevation, became hard packed snow/ice (spikes). back to bare wet trail in sections, then icy packed snow/monorail again. A few spots with postholes but avoidable. Closer to summit, the side of trail is still postholable - try to stay on center of trail and it wont be an issue. I usually take my snowshoes for the ride just in case but i was so confident i wouldnt need them, i left them in the car....I was right. Another fabulous day on Garfield summit, which I had to myself for a good 20min before the lunchtime rush. Met some nice folks along the way during descent. Life is good in the mountains. |
