 | Comments: |
Indian Head Trail was a mess for about the first 1/4 of the climb - several hikers and a dog with huge feet had been out while it was slushy, and it was very rough. We started in snowshoes and switched to spikes, which were much better. There were two other parties on the trail in bareboots and they were doing OK. The upper half of the trail was mostly a mix of breakable and firm crust - pretty easy going. After the additional traffic, the descent was much smoother.
The Mt. Pemigewassett trail on the last bit to the summit was in great shape and clearly had had a lot of traffic - firm, stable low monorail. |
