Comments
Comments: Headed up the road which is the John Wolter trail. It just keeps on climbing! About an inch - 2” of snow on the gravel surface. After passing two small hunter blinds/cabins, we passed a third plus a larger hut and came to what appeared to be a parking area. The O’Brien trail went sharp right while we continued across the clearing to where the John Wolter trail/road became a Class VI. (There are a few signs but many unmarked trails. We just followed our instincts as well as the occasional orange/red diamond with the black arrows.) Just keep following the switch backing road to the summit. FYI There is a fork soon after the clearing marked with a sign with a “P” on it; stay right. A bit later there is a trail to the right; this time stay left. At the end of the road, you will see a cabin above you, where you can warm up a bit before bushwhacking a short way to the recognized high point, marked with a glass jar. Just watch the porch as some of the boards are missing. Nice hike on a frigid morning. The constant climbing warmed us up and kept us warm! Sunny and clear with great views!
