Started off at 0710, summited in around 3.5 hours, got down at 1330. Challenging trail conditions. You had some of everything. Lower elevations had lots of running water, wet leaves, icy rocks, barely covered in snow, hidden ice etc. Higher up trail was better monorail, but with numerous post holes from earlier in season. Less than a mile from summit were strong winds that had snow drifts across Carriage Road. None were too deep but it has not snowed recently. Summit was clear and frozen. Ice/snow. Gorgeous views, clear day, exhilarating summit, well worth the effort! |
