Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Eisenhower (attempt), Mr. Pierce, NH
Trails
Trails: Road walk, Edmands Path, Crawford Path, Webster Cliff Trail, Mizpah Cutoff, Crawford Connector
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, December 23, 2018
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Crawford Connector Trailhead was plowed & accessible. Plowing stops there, though, so to get to Edmands Path you have to do a 2.3 mile road walk - road was well packed and frozen, so walking was a breeze (with spikes to get across some icy flooded water)
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Ice - Breakable Crust, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable)
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: mostly little rock hoppable ones, but crossing Abenaki Brook on the Edmands Path was a little dicey - took us a while to scout a route, finally decided to walk across rocks between two fallen trees, holding onto the trees for stability (felt very stable and safe for us, but may be unsafe for some)
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: many fallen trees, especially on Edmands Path
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: river crossing on Edmands Path would not be safe for a dog. Rest would be fine but cold.
Bugs

Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a red dog leash between Pierce and Mizpah Hut! Email me if you would like it back!

Comments
Comments: Great hike! Road walk to Edmands Path was not bad at all - much better than we anticipated. Edmands path was also a breeze - didn't have to break trail because of the warm temps recently - was barely much snow for the first mile or two. Conditions up on the ridge were chilly of course, but absolutely beautiful! Gorgeous sunset from Pierce and a great hike down. Mizpah Cutoff was kind of a mess with postholes & such, but Crawford path down from Pierce was a well-packed monorail, to be expected.
