Valley Way was a frozen, very uneven sidewalk. Light traction worked, although full crampons could be used above treeline. Lots of exposed rock on both ascents, although enough crusted snow on most of them that they weren't really icy. Very windy at the summits, but a gorgeous day today. First winter ascent of the season (and my first winter 5k peaks) and my snowshoes hitched a ride on my backpack the whole way - an early Christmas present. Lots of folks out enjoying the sun today. |
