Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, December 23, 2018
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Lot was icy for many. Dropped my Subaru into 2nd and had no issues, but a few cars were slipping and sliding trying to get into the upper lot. I suspect these were people unaware of the "L" mixed in with "P-R-D-N" on their gear selectors. Lots of squealing, spinning tires for them.

Comments
Comments: Solidly packed trail. It should probably have been avoided during Saturdays wet, warm mush, and there were boot and snowshoe post-holes. The trail was well frozen once you made it past the somewhat icy and flowing lower parts of the trail. Until the weather changes significantly, I'd recommend no more than spikes, maybe crampons up top if you feel the need. Views early were obscured by light clouds and some very light snow, but had improved by the time we hit the Waumbek outlook, where we ate and early lunch in the Sun. Multiple toll taking Grey Jays at Starr King, as well as a very timid one at Waumbek. Moving time was 4:16 start to finish (I'm getting over a cold [cough-cough-snork]).
