Comments
Comments: Nice cold start mid morning. There was about 3 inches of fresh snow that had fallen over night. We started in spikes but quickly changed into snowshoes due to the fresh light fluffy snow. We kept snowshoes on the rest of the day. The trail was well packed beneath the new snow until just above the Mizpah Cutoff. Lots of drifting some upwards of 2 feet. There were some tracks ahead of us but I believe all were booting, no snowshoes. Several new postholes installed today by the booters. Once above treeline the trail was wind scoured with a crusty layer. Plenty of wind above treeline coupled with temps in the low teens made for some cold hiking. Summit was nicer with the trees breaking the wind. Only about 1 foot of the summit cairn is visible now. Great views all around.
