Comments
Comments: Long loop to pick up the Blueberry Pasture Trail and the flat part of the Jesus Valley - Beaver Pond Trail. Old Stage Road was a combo of frozen snow & ice and bare spots, Blueberry pasture was more of the same, Starightback Mtn Tr. ice and snow. Snowshoes not needed anywhere today, left ours in the car. Was able to avoid most of the ice until coming down off of Starightback on the BRT, probably should have put spikes on for the descent, but we picked our way around the ice. BRT from Brook to summit of Major open rock, snow & ice. Only saw people when reached the summit of Major and then only 4 groups/solo so maybe 10 people, not a typical day on Mount Major. Still good views in all directions. Decided to put on spikes when we hit the steeps on the Boulder Loop Trail. Was able to take them off on the lower part of the JVBP trail which was mostly snow, ice and many bare spots. Looked like trail was relocated along the pond. Nice loop around 6+ miles.
