Early start in hopes of getting up Washington, blue sky, beautiful day.....until we neared the hut and got a feel for the winds. The wind (coming from the East today and blowing a little stronger than we thought it would be) was blowing all the ground snow right at us as we ascended. The current packed- out trail comes up on the other side of the hut (that was a first). We were able to get up/down Monroe but with winds only predicted to get stronger, we tossed our idea of Washington out and safely went back down Ammo. Ammo packed down solid, microspikes all day for us. |
