Comments
Comments: ski trails groomed. a little crusty. ridge trail broken and mostly well packed. some drifted areas were a little soft. used the short bushwack around the summit of d peak on the return. initially followed existing tracks before they entered some thick stuff and then dropped downhill into open woods to the ski trail. ridge trail down to carter notch did not have fresh tracks and had a couple inches of new/blown snow over a packed base.
wore snowshoes from start to finish.
nice day to hike wildcat. the ridge is so much more enjoyable in the winter. wind had a definite bite to it and seemed to increase as the day progressed. never got clear views up to the presidentials as clouds kept their hold, but some nice looks into the ravines on the descent. great to be out.
