Djinda, 55 lb. golden, had a blast; lots of good smells and off-trail things to chase. No human nor dog encounters beyond Highland Center, so off-leash was great. |

 | Comments: |
Easy, gradual walk-in to Avalon cut-off. Well packed from snowshoers after earlier storm, hardpack from snowshoed. 1"-3" loose powder on top. Keeping to center of trail, micro-spikes were great. Upper Avalon to ridge some tighter spots from bending trees weighted with snow making narrow passage. V. few postholes from steps not in early snowshoe pack. Sorry, I created one. Better packed and trail obvious as far as Avalon, an obvious destination for some. Super view to Presies and don't miss 100 yard side trail to Avalon Peak/outlook. |
