The parking off NH 116 was not plowed but with our SUV it was not a problem |
|

Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The three crossing before the junction with Bald Peak were partly covered with ice and snow. With care can be crossed without getting wet. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Mt Kinsman trail had been packed by snowshoers after last week's storm and is fairly solid. It allowed to bareboot or with use of microspikes without sinking in.
Kinsman Ridge trail had more snowcover and areas where wind driven snow had filled in the trail. We put on snowshoes when we got to the KRT. The fluffy snow did not mitigate the barebooters deeper imprints, making it more difficult with snowshoes. On our return we ran into three barebooters, wore spikes, with snowshoes on their packs. As someone said in an earlier trail report: no points for that. I removed a number of leaners but there were simply too many and it is still an obstacle course near the the col between the two peaks, crawling on hands and knees there got us through. |

| Comments: |
Mt. Kinsman trail was in really good shape, there are still some spots with open water but not a problem. Lots of leaners left to deal with between the two peaks on the KRT, though we removed quite a lot of them. Overall a great day to do these two peaks. |
