Hard to tell the difference between the many many leaners and the blowdowns.
Snowshoes are ESSENTIAL! They supported me on the crust when I had to go off trail. My poles frequently went in to the handles. Wrestling with the bendovers from Zeacliffe to Bond requires a lot of extra time and energy. I estimate this section took 2 to 3 hours longer than last month. I was very grateful to the recent hikers who left a track to follow. The bendovers completely obliterate the trail in many places. The trench was often my only quide. Navigation will be very challenging if we get enough snow to hide that trench. |
