Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One gnarly felled tree about 1 mile up OBP. On my way down I took out about 8 branches with the pack saw to make it a slight crouch under. The tree itself is about chest high so another foot of snow will make for an awkward passage. There another fallen tree about .5 mile beyond that where a track has been laid around it.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw three well-behaved pooches out today.
Bugs
Bugs: None.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: Odds were that this area would be packed out and I wasn't wrong. I wore snowshoes from the beginning - the track ascending OBP was nice up the Agonies where it got choppy with some postholes about. When I got to the hut I put spikes on thinking above it would be a little boney but I was wrong - I should have kept the shoes on. When I got to the summit I atoned for my bad decision and put the shoes back on and kept them on for the entire descent. Greenleaf Trail to the hut was still a little choppy after my time on it but below the hut OBPwas becoming a very nice showshoe track.

Awesome undercast all day today...in every direction and as far as the eye could see. Only in the afternoon did the Notch begin to break up. Abundant sun, barely any wind, comfy temps and softening afternoon snow made this one feel like a spring trek. I lingered quite a bit taking pics and soaking up the sun. A super day!

By the way: if you have to pee in the snow next to the trail please cover it up. Your fellow hikers really don't want to look at yellow stained snow spots all day. Sure, you might lose a few seconds on your Strava time but the amount of goodwill toward others' enjoyment of the trails - and good karma for yourself - will infinitely outweigh any time lost. Thank you.
