Comments
Comments: Well we set off for the awildcats after the bug storm today. The polecat trail was geoomed all the way up so we thought to get our elevation this way. I had my skis on my back while the two other ladies were going to make a loop and come out 19 mile brook trail. We made it to the top of the chair life in about 2 hours (with my slow self with the added skis and ski boot weight. I then dumped off my skis at the top and we sqe that the trail was untouched. So we started up to the peak of D and it was at least a foot of breaking trail. This was rough going. We got to the peak and headed over to C. It was a mess trying to stay on your feet if you were not the first person to break trail. I had put a turn around time for myself at 1:30 and around 1:15 we were almost up to Wildcat C when we came to a blowdown. Well multiple blowdowns in a bunch. I teied the left and went up to my hip (i am 5’10”) in snowshoes, then I tried the right side and went in to my hips again in a spruce trap with my snowshoe getting stuck. Ann did try the right side wide but couldn’t get around the other blowdowns and then she tried to sit on the tree to see if she could spin and that was unable to work. So i had decided to turn around and the other two did a little after me giving up on the blow down. The way back was a lot easier but still powdery. I skiied down and the two ladies trucked down and we called it a day!
