AFMT is pretty well packed out, either spikes or snowshoes would be fine. Some drifting up at the outlook. RGLT has been broken out, but needs more traffic. Snowshoes are required on this stretch. I did notice one set of snowshoe tracks heading off through the stone wall toward the true summit, which I did not visit this time. Snow depths on average about a foot or so.
Cold and windy in the open with single digit wind chills, but with the right layers and the sun finally out, it was pretty comfortable. I didn't see anyone else. |
