Shaker farm rd is plowed to a point and rutted beyond that from logging traffic with minimal snow on the road. Some sketchy spots in the last third of a mile requiring medium to high clearance vehicle. My Rav 4 made it in fine. |

 | Comments: |
Certain winter conditions on Grand Monadnock. Snow depth at base anywhere between 3-6 inches ranging to near knee deep drifts further up. Crusty snow down low and powdery up top. Spikes were not required until last half mile to summit, but I wore them from the car to summit and back. Late starts provide the solitude I often seek, only saw two others so late in the day. |
