Three of us from RGoH. Whitehouse trail and the first part of Liberty Springs trail is a mixed bag of snow, leaves, and mud. I don't know if any traction is needed here although we used spikes on the way down for this part. The rest of the way we were all in snowshoes. After the junction with Flume Slide trail the snow is much more consistent. You'll definitely want snowshoes the last two miles or so -- it was fairly unpacked powder today. We decided to just do Liberty since we got to the summit around 12:45 and the part of Franconia Ridge trail over to Flume wasn't broken out. It was great to be out today and my first "real" winter day of the year |
