Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Very few cars in Lincoln Woods parking. They waved the parking fee for Veteran's Day weekend.

Surface Conditions: Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: We avoided the Franconia Brook stream crossing and the first one on Lincoln Brook by taking the Black Pond BW. The 2 major crossings we made of Liberty Brook and Lincoln Brook were both very doable by rock hopping (with microspikes on) on snow/ice-covered rocks, after some reconnaissance. Water levels have subsided to a reasonable level in the last couple days.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lincoln Woods Trail muddy and wet in places but not bad; starting to freeze up
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Eva did fine on the stream crossings, preferring at times to wade rather than make a long leap onto icy, snow-covered rocks.

Comments
Comments: Took the Black Pond BW to Lincoln Brook Tr, nice to cut off more than a mile of trail and avoid 2 potentially difficult stream crossings. Even though we've been watching the stream gauge water levels drop, we still wondered about the 2 stream crossings on Lincoln Br Tr. We were able to rock hop on snow and ice-covered rocks with microspikes on and generally stay dry. Took the Brutus BW instead of the slide. Good route up until hitting a nasty wall of snow-covered spruce/fir up high. Managed a more open BW route down the entire way, much nicer and quicker. 1-2 feet of snow up high. Minimal snow down low. Great day out with Joyce and good to meet Harry on the Brutus BW after he turned around to abort and then changed his mind to forge ahead with us.
