| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Mount Clinton Road is open from Route 302 to the Edmands Path parking lot. A few inches of snow on the road, may be a bit tricky with a sedan as there were some good sized dips/bumps. Only car in the lot at 7am. Three cars at 12:30pm. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet Trail, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Wet/Slippery Rock, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Slush |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
A few small easily rock hoppable crossings. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails in good shape. One blowdown on Edmands Path that was easy to step over, but too big to clear without a saw. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Hiked with two dogs today. They handled the low temps quite well and were loving it, but the wind when we peeked out toward the Edmands Path / Mount Eisenhower loop junction proved too much, and the dogs (and their owners) retreated into the trees and back down. |

| Comments: |
The five of us (and two dogs) broke trail on the way toward Eisenhower (thanks to Dan for leading the way and rocking the snowshoes). 2-4 inches down low, 6-8 inches further up. All soft powder from the night before. By noon, on the way down, it was easily passable in microspikes in the upper sections, bare boots down low. The wind was brisk up top (brr), but a great day out. We saw 4 other people heading up Edmands Path toward Eisenhower on our way down, and a few of them heading over toward Pierce. |
