Comments
Comments: Only planned to hike the lower elevation to clear waterbars, now that the leaves are mostly down.

While there is no snow on the ground in Campton and much of Route 49, there is full cover as you arrive in Waterville Valley.

Lower trail (e.g. below the top water crossing) is *very* sloppy right now due to the ground not being frozen, significant recent rain, and 2-4" of snow last night (apparently there is 6-8" up high). Lots of slush, mud, and standing water. The slush may set up as ice tonight; I would recommend bringing spikes. Ground and vegetation are very fragile in this state, so walking around puddles can cause significant damage.
